UNumbers

UNumbers, as Ethent uses the term, are unpredictable numbers that can add security to tickets, bank checks, credit/debit cards and other objects. This is because an object like a ticket with a UNumber is harder to counterfeit successfully than a ticket without a UNumber.

The security of UNumbers is based on the fact that a fraud perpetrator cannot determine or calculate an object's UNumber because it is unpredictable. For example, a ticket (for a specific event) for seat 5 in row 4, section 8 might have a UNumber of 4873. A counterfeiter cannot determine or calculate the 4873 and therefore cannot produce a counterfeit ticket with the correct UNumber for seat 5 in row 4, section 8 without access to the original ticket.

To learn how tickets can be produced and then later authenticated see Interactive Demonstrations: "Unpredictable Numbers" for a hands-on presentation of how UNumbers are calculated and used to authenticate ticket information.
