How Ethent's Free Authentication Works

When your bank receives one of your checks (or its equivalent) your bank will be able to authenticate the check's amount and payee for Free at Ethnet's Web site.

Your bank supplies information from the check to Ethent. |

Ethent calculates the one-way fingerprints for the check's amount and payee. |

Ethent compares the calculated one-way fingerprints to the one-way fingerprints in your check issue file. |

Ethent supplies the results to your bank. |
|
Your bank decides whether or not to pay the check. |
If the check's calculated one-way fingerprints do not equal the one-way fingerprints in your check issue file the check is probably an alteration or counterfeit.
